Web app
The Privatemode web app offers a ChatGPT-like experience for a selection of the models available on Privatemode.
The app prioritizes your privacy and data security:
- Uses only the Privatemode API for all AI interactions
- Stores chat history and access key locally on your device
- Doesn't send any of your chat data (prompts, etc.) to third-party services
The app is available at chat.privatemode.ai. Open it in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox) and start chatting. As a guest user, you have a limited token budget. Sign in with a Privatemode account to remove this limit.
The online version extends the TCB to Edgeless Systems and Cloudflare. For a smaller TCB, you can self-host the app. Both versions can be verified from source.
Signing in
To use the app without token limits, sign in with your Privatemode account in the bottom left of the app. If your account belongs to multiple organizations, you can select which one to use.
On first login with an organization, an API key for the web app is created automatically.
To adjust the token limit for this key, go to the Privatemode portal,
delete the auto-generated key (named chat.privatemode.ai), and recreate it with your desired limits.
File upload
Depending on the selected model, you can upload files and refer to them in your prompts. Attach files using the "Attach" button or by dragging them into the app.
Common file types are supported, including PDF and Microsoft Office documents (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
Limitations
- No image support. Only text is processed, so photos of text pages in a PDF aren't supported.
- Maximum file size: 25 MB.
- Maximum chat length: 70,000 words (including uploaded files, roughly 120 single-spaced A4 pages at 12pt).
